Why Visit St. Anne’s on the Sea?
This beautiful, Victorian, garden town by the sea is a jewel of the Fylde Coast. Long stretches of sandy beaches, overlooked by the promenade, award winning beach huts and fantastically preserved pier, give way to the rolling sand dunes – a great place to blow the cobwebs away, relax and enjoy being by the seaside.
Stop a while at the bandstand, before exploring the promenade gardens and water features, before maybe taking a ride on the miniature railway, flying a kite, bird watching, riding a donkey or testing your skills at miniature golf. You’ll find plenty of benches to rest along the way and ice creams if you need to cool down. Heading back towards the pier you’ll find the friendly face of entertainer Les Dawson smiling back at you from the Peace and Happiness Garden – he loved it here.
If you can tear yourself away from the wonderful estuary views, a short stroll into town will offer you a vast range of quality food, from cafés, takeaways (including the seaside traditional fish and chips) and bakeries to restaurants. There are traditional cafes, including one in St. Anne’s on the Sea’s stunning Ashton Gardens, or if you fancy something a little out of the ordinary you could try the Quirky Tea Room or Alice’s for an Alice in Wonderland themed experience. The world really is your oyster when it comes to dining out – Turkish at Anatolia, Chinese or Thai at Zen, Indian at Moghul, Greek at the Olive Tree, Italian at Olivers, and, Tiggis, English at its best at Greens Bistro, European delights at Ember & Vine or Scandinavian inspired Fifty Four are just some of the many options available. There is also a plethora of excellent cafe’s from the beach front stretching in and around town from Fresh Cafe, Vanilla, Elbourne’s and the new NAFFI cafe in town, to The Pavilion in Ashton Gardens, to name a few.
There’s plenty of seating in the town square if shopping until you drop is more your thing. You’ll find lots of independent shops and services – if you can’t find what you’re looking for, ask a local, we’re very friendly.
There’s so much to do that you’ll probably decide to stay, if so there’s something to suit every budget and taste – friendly B&Bs, quality self-catering, family focussed hotels and boutique hotels, many with spa and leisure facilities.
Events go on throughout the year – music, arts, kite festival, food festival, Victorian festival and more, so check your visit dates against the events calendar on the Discover Fylde website to see what you might experience.
We look forward to welcoming you.
